Hello, I’m Rona Wheeldon

I’m the creator of the Expedition Cruise Journal, a resource designed to help you navigate the world of expedition cruising with clarity and confidence at every stage of your journey.

Where It All Began

My introduction to expedition cruising came in April 2024 on Viking’s Canadian Discovery voyage - a gentle first step into this style of travel, taken as part of a press trip.

The following January, I travelled with Viking to Antarctica on their Antarctic Explorer itinerary as a PR invite, experiencing the scale, silence and remoteness of the continent for the first time. Then, in February 2026, I headed north to the Arctic on HX’s Ultimate Norway itinerary - a self‑funded expedition cruise exploring North Norway’s coastline.

Each voyage was completely different and each one strengthened my connection to this way of exploring the world. Somewhere along the way, I realised I’d fallen in love with expedition cruising.
